Running WITH God

Psalm 3

This was a very dark time in David's life. His son Absalom had risen up to overthrow his throne, and David was on the run. Many were pursuing his life. His enemies were so confident in the military might of thier coup, they didn't even believe God could save David. But David's faith sustained him; even as he was on-the-lam--hiding in caves--he found rest from his enemies.

Have you ever felt the cards were stacked against you like that? So many enemies, so much controversy, so many accusations, so few "friends", so little sleep, such a seemingly bleak outcome?

What great promises we find through this life-example of faith.
1. God is our shield.
2. God is the lifter of our heads.
3. God is our shoulder to cry on.
4. God is our listening Father.
5. God is our rest.
6. God is our sustenance.
7. God is our confidence.
8. God is our salvation.

David was an imperfect man with a perfect God--just like us. His faith, nonetheless, rested not on his own inability and insufficiency, but on God's ability and sufficient faithfulness toward His people.

As you meditate on Psalm 3, I pray that today you will find strength and confidence in the loving presence of the Heavenly Father, through the Son and by the Spirit.
